Dear Families,
As part of our Kindergarten program this year, students have been working closely with the Calgary Zoo’s Little Green Thumbs program. This is a hands on, inquiry based program that - helps students learn about themselves, their environment and develop a deeper sense of community. In our garden we are growing a variety of vegetables and herbs and since the program asks us to plant, eat and share we decided that we would give back to their community selling basil plants. The proceeds will be donated to Brown Bagging for Calgary Kids. This organization works in partnership with Calgary schools to make and deliver free healthy lunches for students who would otherwise go hungry. Each basil plant will be sold for $5, which will feed a Calgary child lunch for one week. Order forms should be returned by Friday, April 17th and children will be bringing home the plants on Wednesday, April 22nd in celebration of Earth Day.
You can find the order form in this week's newsletter. Thank you for your support!
