Evergreen students are raising money for Muscular Dystrophy Canada. We will be hosting a "Hop for Muscular Dystrophy" on March 11th and 12th during gym classes.
We decided to raise money to help people living with muscular dystrophy after one of our families approached us with the idea. On February 25, Doctor Lawrence Korngut spoke to us in an assembly about what muscular dystrophy is and the kinds of things doctors and scientists are doing to help people who have muscular dystrophy. Online Donations can be made on the Evergreen School Team Website. If your family wishes to set up a personal fundraising page, click the "join team" link. Funds raised through the HOP for Muscular Dystrophy program help families affected by a neuromuscular disorder obtain essential mobility and medical equipment, support services and education as well as funding leading research to find a cure. Go to muscle.ca to learn more. All students who participate in the fundraising will be entered in a draw for fabulous prizes! Trip to the BrierEvergreen Students have the opportunity to go to the Brier at the Saddledome tomorrow. Brier tickets were generously donated by the Canadian Curling Association. We are so excited that our students will have this uniquely Canadian experience. Just think, many years from now, when the Brier comes on television, our students will remember attending in elementary school. The Brier is the Canadian Curling Championships where teams from every province come to compete. To prepare for our Brier experience, students have been learning about curling in a variety of ways. Miss McNabb has hosted a curling club for grade ones nearly every day for the past few weeks and all of the students had a chance to try out curling in their gym classes. The Brier trophy even came to visit us for a day. In April, "Rocks and Rings" will be visiting Evergreen school to give students another curling experience in the gym. Here are some curling videos for you to watch with your family:
