Last week we had the first meeting of the Chefs of Evergreen cooking club and it was a huge success! The students made "Pirate Pizza Boats" and we read the story Grandma and the Pirates by Phoebe Gilman. It was so fun to watch the grade 1 students make their pizzas then gobble them up. A generous parent who is a professional chef donated chefs' hats for the students to wear while they were cooking.
Did you know there are a number of clubs happening at Evergreen right now?
Cooking Club (Grade 1)
Curling Club (Grade 1)
Knitting Club (Grade 2)
Chess Club (Grades 3 and 4)
Photography Club (Grade 3)
Coding Club (Grade 3)
We also have two leadership groups that have just started up for the year. These groups consist of students who have been selected to represent their classes:
In "Student Voice", two students from each class help to promote special events, gather information from their peers, and help to lead the S4 program in our school. This week they had their first meeting and they helped to promote Winter Walk Day at Evergreen School.
The "Tech Team" is made up of a group of students who have a particular interest and "talent" in technology. They are undergoing some training so that they can be "tech support" for their teachers and classmates. Their goal is to teach all of the students to be experts in using technology for learning.
Thank you to all of the teachers who have been so generous with their time (and talent) to make these wonderful activities happen for our students!
